I’ll pick you up at dusk

A 25-part photo essay.

The car has always been much more than a way to get from point A to point B. The nostalgia, passion, and bonding experiences in a car are those that stick with you throughout your entire life. Inspired by such experiences in my own life, ‘I’ll pick you up at dusk’ documents the late night conversations had while in the car. It consists of 5 acts, each one propelling the viewer through the natural progression of a deep conversation between a boy and a girl. Each act also has a song tied to it’s photos and it’s meaning, through a playlist curated for the trip. This snapshot of musical inspiration, combined with rhetorical questions against a backdrop of night photography makes the viewer examine the importance of deep talks and building true human connections in one of our most treasured pastimes.

‘I’ll pick you up at dusk’ was originally presented as a self-published virtual exhibition during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the winter of 2020. The essay has now been compiled into a film for easy viewing.
